Please contact us if you can't find what you are looking for.
Discord allows us to create a peer-led space that the community can be fully involved in, it can evolve and adapt to suit the needs of the group. Access to the TAG server is available 24/7 and members can choose to 'look in' or interact in different ways. The advanced security settings also help foster a safe environment for users.
The group is hosted in Discord, which is restricted to users aged 13+.
TAG members chat about a wide variety of things, we have over 25 different interest channels so there is something for everyone, such as; gaming, movies, vehicles, animals, art, music, photography to name a few. If you have a passion for something that isn't covered, as a peer-led group, you can add a channel. Members can also customise their server view to only show the things they want to see, e.g. don't like Lego? - simply hide the channel.
Discord have great guides on their website. TAG staff are also happy to help and once you are in the server we have video mini guides you can access at any time.
No we are a youth group not a gaming group but if you are a gamer there are dedicated gaming channels. You can chat about games, share info etc. and voice chat allows members to connect whilst playing online together. Hopefully you will find friends in the gaming channels that have/like the same games you play.
We have a new private Minecraft Server just for members too.
#note: Streamed games must be appropriate so 18+ games cannot be streamed in the TAG server.
No we are not a mental health service!
We share resources and support organisation information & helplines from mental health and neurodivergent affirming charities, organisations and support groups.
We like to share fun, positive, relatable content, apps and tips and tricks to support good mental well being but we are not a mental health service.
IMPORTANT! All information posted in the server is for education/information/reference purposes only and is not a substitute for professional mental health advice. We do not provide or share any medical advice!
Safety is our main priority, the TAG Discord community is private and entry is by invitation only. All new members are verified by the team before being given access. Staff that have access to young people online hold current EDBS certification.
We have rules to make sure the community is safe and welcoming to everyone.
Volunteers monitor engagement on the server between 10:30 and 22:00 each day and chat is closed overnight. The team can access all text messages within the server and Discord filters all messages to block explicit or unwanted content. If young people are worried about anything, they are able to easily contact admin within the server, who will respond and take necessary action.
What we cannot be responsible for:
Staff are unable to monitor direct messages (DMs), they can be reported to staff if a member has a problem and there is an option to block DMs in the server. We have rules around direct messaging but parents/carers are asked to monitor and take full responsibility for their young person's TAG server usage as they would in any other online space or youth group.
Once young people develop friendships they may create private chats outside of the TAG server. Parents/carers have the responsibility to ensure such contact is appropriate.
To register check out CONTACT US and fill in the 2 registration forms. If you are under 15 we require a parent/carer to register on your behalf.
Once both registration forms are complete, we will email an invite code for our verification Discord server where (for safeguarding reasons) we will have a chat in a voice channel before giving access to our main server. We are a friendly bunch and will make this as easy as possible but if you are too anxious, we can chat with a parent/carer instead!
Yes, we need a range of adult volunteers. If you are over 18 and want to join us, we have various volunteer roles you can take on - subject to safeguarding policies for all adult members. If you are a TAG member before turning 18 and want to continue to be a part of the group, you may be able to join the TAG team.
No you do not need to be neurodivergent to volunteer with us!
TAG is a neurodiverse led community which aims to support young autistic people to understand themselves better and live in a way which helps them thrive. As such, it is important to us that volunteer views align with our approach to autism to fully support our community goals but all brain types are welcome! Check out our volunteer page!
We have established clear and simple guidelines for the group, to ensure that everyone understands the expectations for behaviour and communication.
Our online moderators are neurodivergent, knowledgeable about autism or have experience working with autistic young people. They help facilitate discussions, address conflicts, and provide guidance when needed.
Inclusivity in chat is encouraged to avoid alienation. Some people struggle with interpreting text speech so staff are able to help when misunderstanding/negativity occurs in chats.
We provide opportunities for members to share their hobbies and interests, talents, and achievements to help build self-esteem and foster a sense of belonging.
They can use a variety of formats such as text, images, or video.
We plan structured activities or discussions to help members navigate social interactions more comfortably.
We emphasise the importance of respecting personal boundaries and individual differences. We encourage members to communicate their preferences regarding social interactions and ensure that those preferences are respected by the group.
We share resources and content about autism, neurodiversity, and related topics. We encourage members to share their experiences and insights, promoting a collaborative learning environment.
We have check-ins with group members and provide a channel for reporting issues or contacting staff.
We share up-to-date links and content from support organisations, useful apps and hints and tips. We are not a mental health service and do not give medical advice but support positive well being by sharing useful resources, personal management techniques, regulatory exercises etc.

At The A Game, our mission is to foster connection, understanding and empowerment among autistic young people. We are dedicated to creating a supportive virtual space where individuals can embrace their unique identities and thrive in a place that celebrates neurodiversity.
Build a Caring Community: We strive to create an online haven where autistic young people find acceptance, friendship, and a sense of belonging. Through peer support, we aim to reduce the isolation often experienced by autistic young people.
Promote Self-Expression: We believe in the power of self-expression and individuality. We provide a platform for our members to share their thoughts, experiences, and creativity without judgment or prejudice.
Advocate for Understanding: We are advocates for autism awareness and understanding. We aim to educate and foster self understanding and acceptance and to champion the rights and needs of autistic individuals in the broader community.
Empower Personal Growth: We will facilitate skill-building, personal development, and the exploration of new interests. By empowering our members with knowledge and opportunities, we hope to help them reach their full potential.
Embrace Neurodiversity: We celebrate the diverse spectrum of neurological differences. Our community values every member for their unique strengths and perspectives.
With a commitment to these principles, we aspire to combat isolation and loneliness, enhance well-being, and empower autistic young people to lead fulfilling lives as active, engaged and valued members of society.
